Gefner is the most popular atemoya variety grown in Florida, prized for its excellent fruit quality, high productivity, and ability to produce without hand pollination. A hybrid of sugar apple (Annona squamosa) and cherimoya (Annona cherimola), Gefner produces heart-shaped or rounded fruit with light green, bumpy skin. The white, custard-like flesh is sweet, creamy, and virtually seedless compared to other varieties.
